The History of Mela-A-Support Group
Mela-A means Members Empowering Lives Across America. It is a non-profit, non-denominational, Christian, internet and community based support group. This support group is designed to be different and unique in its own way.
The vision was given to Angela from Almighty God as she was headed to the post office on August 8, 2005. Angela had no idea that an organization of this kind would impact so many lives across America so rapidly. On August 14, 2005, Angela and her friend, Brenda spearheaded Mela-A’s first teleconference call. The teleconference call is open to all members on the 4th Monday of each month. A powerful, spiritual and encouraging meeting takes place on these monthly calls. All members are encouraged to be present.
Mela-A was incorporated on January 11, 2006 in Montgomery, Alabama. The birth of a new era revolutionized and flourished into what is known today as one of the most outstanding support group on the internet.
Mela-A-Support Group has a three-fold purpose. First and foremost, its main goal is to empower and support members across America who are suffering from emotional, physical, spiritual and personal hardship by means of sound biblical principles. The members will accomplish this goal through tele-conference calls, yearly retreats and internet communications. Secondly, to support the orphans in Africa. Thirdly, each member participates in fund raiser projects to help promote cancer awareness. The monies raised will be distributed to American Cancer Society to support its mission. Mela-A’s future goal will provide temporary housing for women, children and men who are abused, respite care for teen pregnancy, Christian counseling service, after school care, G.E.D preparation and provide food and clothing to the needy in honor of Brenda Michelle Dickerson.
